The University of Toronto has decided to create a School of Languages and Literatures. This proposal will subsequently fuse and minimize the departments of East Asian Studies, German Languages & Literatures, Italian Studies, Slavic Languages and Literatures, and Spanish & Portuguese into the School. Consequently, the Centre for Comparative Literature will be eliminated and implicated into a collaborative program, ceasing the broad areas of study currently available in this program. And just to add onto that lump sum, the university has also decided to close the Centre for Ethics.
We're hearing about the many detriments to occur if the University decides to pursue its proposals. Changes like these affect us all as members of the University of Toronto, whether we're enrolled in these programs, teach the courses, or are part of the chain of similar changes set for the future.
Come out to the meeting on Monday so we can hear your thoughts and testimonials, and unite in the fight to oppose these threats to our education and academic integrity!

The Academic & Student Rights Commission is meeting once again!
Formerly known as the University Affairs Commission, this group discusses and works on issues, campaigns and events dealing with matters at the University of Toronto. These matters may directly or indirectly affect students studying at the institution and it must be ensured that our rights as students are upheld.
Our previous meeting set the priorities of the commission for the year. A big thank you to the students who were in attendance for sharing their thoughts and brainstorming on ideas.
On Monday we will discuss the budgeting framework of these priorities and continue to wield ideas and strategies for the coming year.
Attention will also be placed on the following topics:
