Your Executive

Welcome (back) to an exciting year at UofT! Whether you’re just starting out or just finishing up, we’d like to take a moment to let you know that we’re here for you.

This year promises to be exciting and important for so many reasons, like the review of Flat Fees in Arts & Science, the most sustainable Orientation we’ve ever hosted, and the ongoing fight for accessible education and safe campuses. We’ve introduced new services like the Good Food Box. We’re expanding our programming to reflect the spectacular diversity of the student community. And we’ll continue to fight for your rights inside the classroom and on the streets. But we can’t do it alone.

Our strength is in our numbers, and your participation is essential if we want to build a better university. It is all of you who shape our services, events, and campaigns; so speak up and get involved. We are stronger when we’re united and that is why we work across not just colleges, faculties, and campuses, but also with students from across Ontario and Canada through the Canadian Federation of Students. Students have a long history of being at the forefront of change worldwide and we are no different.

So let’s get to it and work together to make our communities safe and supportive, our education accessible and affordable, and our university one that respects our right to learn and challenge both ourselves and each other to be better people.

In Solidarity,
Your Executive Committee,
Adam Awad, President
Rolli Adenmosun, Vice-President Internal & Services
Maria Pilar Galvez, Vice-President University Affairs
Zexi Wang, Vice-President External
Danielle Sandhu, Vice-President Equity
Corey Scott, Vice-President Campus Life

I’m so excited to be your President this year! Apart from being a huge education nerd, I’m passionate about working for each and every one of you to ensure that you’re getting the most out of your time here. We’ve got some incredible new services for you this year and campaigns to build an accessible, student-centred University. But we can only see this through if we’re working together across colleges, faculties, campuses, and with students from across Ontario and Canada, so get involved, have a say, and be a part of the movement to transform our education. It is our right and it’s time for us to take action!

To all our new students, welcome! And to all returning, welcome back! I am excited to see this academic year unroll. We are here to gain more than just the classroom experience during our years here. Our student population is diverse, but we have all come here with a similarity – the goal to achieve and succeed. This year, I am looking forward to helping each and every student to increase the communication with the University administration to ensure that our needs are met. Working together with our Students’ Unions, Societies, and groups from our membership and beyond we can create a better foundation for our community at UofT. In this work we can continue to advocate for students and students’ needs, in and out of the classroom, so that we may earn more than just a diploma at the end of our undergraduate university career.

Danielle Sandhu

Position: 2010-2011 Vice President Equity
Phone Number: 416-978-4911 ext. 237
Bienvenue! I’m Danielle and I will be your Vice-President Equity this year. I love being a part of the U.T.S.U. because I get to meet so many people, each with a unique  personality and personal story. Being part of something so much bigger than myself is an incredible experience. I know that together we can make our campus space open and inclusive to all members of the community. It takes all of us to make our space free of oppression. There are many ways to get involved in equity campaigns this year – from eXpression Against Oppression week to Speak Out Town Halls. Let’s make good things happen this year!

Zexi Wang

Position: 2010-2011 Vice President External
Phone Number: 416-978-4911 ext. 233
Welcome and welcome back to your life as a student! It’s easy to forget that the world-at-large is not just a place where we memorize facts, but rather a community in which we have the capacity to engage and change. I am excited to be working with all of you to ensure that students’ voices are heard at the municipal, provincial and federal levels Students have successfully lobbied for discounted TTC Metropasses, tuition fee freezes, and a national system of needs-based grants for post-secondary education. In the upcoming year, the External Commission plans to prioritize the push for OSAP reforms in our continued fight for a public, fully-funded, equitable and inclusive post-secondary education system. Join us and have your say! I’ll even bring cookies.

Hi, and welcome to UofT! The U.T.S.U. is one of the largest undergraduate bodies in Canada. As such, we should continue to expect amazing events like Homecoming, Halloweek and Winterfest but also exam de-stressors like U.T.S.U.’s Got You and cultural events like Unity Through Diversity, Caribana and Pride. United together, we can continue to produce amazing campus experiences! I encourage all students to get involved in our Campus Life Commission to strive for a campus culture that represents our strength in diversity. I also encourage students to get involved in the vast array of clubs and events that happen across our three UofT campuses and the GTA. Please feel free to drop by our office to say hi and ask questions. I am here to help orient your campus life experience, and I don’t plan to stop after Orientation Day.
