What is the UTSU?
UTSU is YOUR Students’ Union. We coordinate events, services and campaigns throughout your time as an undergrad at UofT. Some of our awesome events include Orientation, Winterfest, UTSU’s Got You and eXpression Against Oppression. You can access our services like discounted TTC Metropasses, used Book Exchange, Health & Dental Plans and a variety of entertainment discounts. Be sure to check our campaigns that advocate for everything from stopping Flat Fees to governance reform to opposing discrimination and equity.
But your Students’ Union is here for so much more than amazing events and services. We provide a place for you to engage in the issues that matter to all of us as students; a place where we can build better, strong communities that are free from racism, sexism, queerphobia, ableism, and all forms of discrimination. We are here to ensure that your student life is always enjoyable by throwing parties, hosting speakers, and supporting more than 400 campus clubs. Most of all, we are here to represent you to help make sure that you are getting the most out of your time here.
We are here for you: to shape, to define, to collaborate. This year, take some time to volunteer. Have an impact on your community. Our community. By working together, we can improve our experience and see real results. And don’t worry – if you have an idea or a project that you think would have a positive impact on our campus, tell us about it! It’s all about getting involved and enjoying every bit of it, regardless of what others might think. After all, in the words of Margaret Mead: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
So here’s to a year of changing the world – together.
